Group Gymnastics

Flip for Function strives to provide opportunities for all children to participate in recreational gymnastics and to have fun through movement. We offer both adaptive and inclusion gymnastics classes as a way to meet each child where they are & ensure they have the support needed to thrive.

*Please note: to participate in our group program, the child must be able to maintain safe bodies and behaviors while around other children. We do have a 1:1 program for children who need a little extra support for safety.

Adaptive Gymnastics Classes:

Adaptive gymnastics classes are tailored sessions designed to accommodate children with specific needs or challenges. In these classes, you can expect:

  • A smaller adult to student ratio (1:2-3)

  • Higher levels of adult support for children learning how to participate in movement based group classes

  • Focus on task + social engagement, participation, and attention

  • Explore movement + meeting sensory needs through gymnastics and play with a more fluid structure

  • Fair vs equal - some children may need to swing before engaging while other children may be happy to wait their turn on a spot marker. We allow for both of these to occur.

Inclusive Gymnastics Classes:

Inclusion gymnastics classes are welcoming environments where children of all abilities participate together. In these classes, you can expect:

  • Larger adult to student ratio (1:4-5)

  • Lower levels of adult support for task engagement

  • Encouragement for social participation

  • More linear gymnastics skill progressions

  • Inclusion classes follow a class schedule, with sensory breaks as needed

  • Inclusion means everyone benefits - but the benefits may look different for each person
